How I Made New Friends, & Partied it Up on a Rooftop During a Full Moon in June
Sometimes you meet people that just 'get' you, in spite of your weird, crazy, and unexpected tendencies to break out into song.
I love those moments. They're the best! Sometimes these connections last a lifetime, sometimes that last only until the sangria runs out, but they're so much fun. Especially when you don't see them coming. I was in rehearsal for a production of Julius Caesar and on of my fellow castmates pulled me aside and invited me to a rooftop/patio party the following weekend at her place.
My answer, without hesitation was, "Where, when, what can I bring?" What else do you say? Rooftop party in the middle of New York City in June? Is there anything better? Cause I can't think of many other spontaneous events that can happen to a normal person in the middle of the summer in the city.
But that wasn't the best part. We were going to watch the ridiculous campy, guilty pleasure "MAMA MIA" with the sing-a-long track. She had a projector. And a white wall that belonged to the building next door that didn't have any other true purpose other than to be used as our canvas of ridiculous fun.
We drank sangria, ate guacamole & chips, danced, sang, and re-enacted our favorite moments. We dedicated the viewing of the film to our own desires of love and romance, popped a bottle of champange, and let the magic of Greece, Meryl Streep, and the great company of new friends take hold.
It was magical evening, and by far one of my favorite ones this summer...
